Come attend the biggest 4th of July fireworks display in Soutern California. The fireworks are shot off from a barge on the lake directly off Pine Knot Landing. February 16, 2008 - Fawnskin Baby, it's cold outside! Yes, the ground hog saw his shadow and there are at least six more weeks of winter, so let's celebrate! Come to Fawnskin on Saturday, February 16 for our first ever Winter Fest. Stop by the Fawnskin Fire Station Triangle to learn about the day's events. Enter any event and receive a gift certificate for a free drink at any Fawnskin restaurant - Amangela's, the Gold Pan or the North Shore Cafe - courtesy of the Fawnskin Chamber of Commerce. The North Shore Trading Company will sponsor a firewood carrying and stacking contest at 10:30 am. Across the street you can enter the snowman building contest at Amangela's Cafe at 11:30 am. This will be followed by a snowball throwing contest held at North Shore Antiques at 12:30 pm. And throughout the day, stop by the Fawnskin Fire Department to get a tour of the equipment and a free helmet. There will be games, prizes and fun. Don't forget to wear your favorite plaid flannel shirt. February 16, 2008 - Big Bear Discovery Center Moccasin Workshop, 10:00 am-2:00 pm. Get a chance to design your own moccasins. Participants will leave the workshop with the skills and materials to finish their own moccasins. Sign ups must be received by February 11, and participation is limited to 8.
